From the Chairman

A message to our students

Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf, Chairman, BISE Dera Ghazi Khan
Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf Chairman Assumed charge 1 July 2026
Formerly of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur

Every year, more than two hundred thousand young people from Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah and Rajanpur sit our examinations and carry our certificates into the rest of their lives. That trust is this Board’s only real asset.

I came to this office from a career in university teaching, with one conviction: a fair examination, honestly conducted and promptly declared, is the most valuable thing a public institution can give a student. Nothing we do matters more than getting that right.

Our task now is to make that promise easier to keep. Registration, results, certificates and complaints are moving online, so that a candidate in Rojhan or Chaubara has exactly the same access as one in Dera Ghazi Khan city — without a day’s travel or a queue at a counter.

I invite students, parents and heads of institutions to use these services, and to tell us plainly where they fall short. This Board is funded by the families it serves, and it is answerable to them.

Abdul Rauf Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf
Chairman, BISE Dera Ghazi Khan

About the Board

Established in 1989 to serve the Dera Ghazi Khan division, across four districts of southern Punjab.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dera Ghazi Khan was established on 4 January 1989, separating from the Multan Board to serve the Derajat region directly. It operates under the Punjab Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education Act, 1976.

The Board conducts the Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary School Certificate examinations for candidates across Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah and Rajanpur. It registers candidates, affiliates institutions, conducts examinations, declares results and issues certificates.

How the Board is funded

The Board receives no grant-in-aid from government. It meets its costs entirely from examination and registration fees and other charges for its services. This makes it financially autonomous and directly accountable to the candidates and institutions it serves.

Jurisdiction

Four districts fall within the Board's jurisdiction, together covering the Dera Ghazi Khan division: Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah and Rajanpur. Examination centres are established in each district, including in Taunsa Sharif, Kot Addu, Jampur and Karor Lal Esan.
